Configuring the Global General Settings Page

This page determines how your Ubersmith instance operates. It sets overall displays, performs security checks, and grants access to the mobile version.

Access The General Settings Page

1. From the Ubersmith Dashboard, click Settings. The Settings page appears.
2. From the Global Settings – Getting Started section, click General Settings.
   
   The General Settings page appears.

Complete the List Items Section

You can define the number of items displayed on list pages and searches.

1. In the List Items field, enter the amount of items to display on a list page. Any additional items over the set amount will display on the next page.
2. In the Search Results field, enter the amount of items returned in a search to display on a page. Any additional items over the set amount will display on the next page.
   

Complete the X-Forwarded-For Header Section

You can send your client’s IP addresses in the X-Forwarded-For HTTP header (if present), set by some proxies and load balancers.

1. In the Use X-Forwarded-For field, select Yes if you are using a proxy or load balancer.
2. In the Allow IP addresses in RFC1918 ranges field, select Yes to include the IP address in the header.
   

Complete the Error Reporting Section

Internal error reports can be emailed to Ubersmith for debugging purposes.

• In the Send Error Reports field, select Yes to have any internal error reports emailed to Ubersmith. Enable this option when you are experiencing a problem.
  

Complete the Security Section

Ubersmith can automatically log out any inactive user, when they are using Settings pages.

• In the Inactivity Check field, select No timeout to stop users being logged out, or 15 minutes, to have them logged off when they have been inactive for 15 minutes.
  

Complete the Mobile Ubersmith Section

Mobile devices can access a mobile version of Ubersmith.

• In the Enable admin mobile view field, select Yes to grant your users access to the Ubersmith mobile version. This version is not available to clients.
  

Save Your Configuration Settings

• Click Update.
