Viewing Client Devices Estimated Reading Time: 3 Minutes Every device a client owns (servers, switches, PDUs, and other network or facility hardware) is tracked in Ubersmith. This article covers viewing a client's devices: browsing the list, switching to the rack-based Datacenter view, and opening an individual device. Opening a Client's Devices Open the client's profile. Click Devices & IPs, then List Devices. Note: Viewing this tab requires the admin.device_info permission. Some actions on the page (adding, editing, deleting a device, or updating monitors) need additional permissions and are hidden if you don't have them. Browsing the Device List The list shows one row per device: Device ID, Device Description (its name, linked to the device's own detail page), Status, Type, Location, Address, Label, and Actions. A device's Description also shows a monitor count, such as "(1 of 4 up)", when it has monitors; clicking the count opens its monitors page. The Status icon shows the device's overall state (up, warning, down, disabled, or not applicable) and is also a link to its monitors when you have monitor-view access. Note: The Power column only appears if your Ubersmith instance has the device power monitoring add-on enabled. If the client has no devices matching the current filters, the list shows No Devices Defined instead of any rows. Filtering, Sorting, and Searching Narrow the list using All Locations and All Sub-location (facility, zone, cage, row, or rack) and Status (All, Up, Warn, Down, Disabled). Use View to switch between Active Devices and Deleted Devices, or between the List and Datacenter layouts. Click a sortable column heading (Device ID, Description, Type, or Label) to reorder the list. Downloading and Bulk Actions Click Download CSV File to export the current device list, including location and monitor detail not shown in the table. Below the list: select devices with the checkboxes, then use Quick Edit Selected to bulk-edit them, choose a module and Graph to chart it across the selected devices, or enable/disable a monitor across them. If your instance has device tagging turned on, a Tag control also appears here to apply a tag to the selected devices. Viewing Deleted Devices Set View to Deleted Devices to see devices that have been removed from this client instead of its active ones. The list looks and filters the same way; it also reads No Devices Defined when there are none. Switching to the Datacenter View Set View to Datacenter to see the same devices grouped by physical location instead of a flat list: Facility > Zone > Cage > Row > Rack. Each rack card shows a per-device-type count of Total, Up, Warn, Down, and Disabled devices. Click Toggle List / Overview on a rack to expand it into a table of that rack's devices (Description/Label, Status, and Power), or collapse it back to the summary. Note: A rack in a facility with environmental monitoring can also show a temperature/humidity reading here, highlighted if it's outside the configured limits. Opening an Individual Device Click a device's Description, from either view, to open its View Device page: Device Information (type, facility, rack position, label, connection node type, and parent/child device links), an Actions panel with device-specific actions (for example, enabling or disabling switch ports on a switch), and its IP Assignments. Further tabs on this page (Monitors, Comments, Reports, Child Devices, DNS Records, Connections) cover monitoring, history, and networking detail for the device and are documented separately.
