Adding Appliances Estimated Reading Time: 2 Minutes he Ubersmith appliance collects data from your network equipment, for example with SNMP. Device modules use the appliance to show bandwidth, power, and environmental data, and to control switch ports and power outlets. Add your appliance in Ubersmith so that the device modules can connect to it. Then select the appliance in the Config tab of each device module. Open the Appliances page Go to Settings. Under Integrations, click Appliances. The Appliances page shows each appliance with its name and address. Add an appliance Click Add New Appliance. The Add Appliance window opens. Complete the fields. All fields are mandatory. Name: A name for the appliance, for example Main Appliance. You see this name when you select the appliance in a device module. Address: The web address of the appliance, for example https://appliance.example.com:8443. You can also type an IP address or a host name. If you do not type http:// or https://, Ubersmith uses http://. Username: The appliance username, for example ubersmith. Password: The appliance password. Click Save. Check the connection When you save an appliance, Ubersmith connects to it and checks its status. If there is a problem, Ubersmith saves the appliance, but the window stays open and shows the problem. Correct the settings, then click Save again. Ubersmith also checks each appliance every night. If the check fails, the Ubersmith dashboard shows "Nightly appliance status check failed:" and the error. The check also compares the time zones of the appliance and Ubersmith. If they are different, the message includes "Appliance's timezone is different than application's timezone." or "Appliance's database timezone is different than application's database timezone." For more information, refer to the article "Appliance Timezone Mismatch". Edit or delete an appliance On the Appliances page, click edit or delete on the row of the appliance. Before you delete an appliance, select a different appliance in the device modules that use it. Ubersmith does not check if device modules use the appliance. After you delete it, those device modules cannot get data.
