Monitor types are customized monitor scripts that, once configured, are available to be used in the Add Monitor page, in the Config tab.

Access the Monitor Types Page

1. From the Ubersmith Dashboard, click Settings.
   
   The Ubersmith Settings page appears.
2. In the Devices section, click Monitor Scripts.
   
   The Monitor Types page appears.

Complete the Add New Monitor Type page

1. Access the Monitor Types page.
2. Click Add New Monitor Type.
   
   The Add Monitor Type page appears.
3. In the Name field, enter the name of the monitor type.

4. In the Client Access field, select either Yes to grant your clients with the proper permissions to view the monitor, or No.

   Send Text sends the specified text to an open socket and waits for a response, once a connection with the remote host is open.  Send Single Line (with /n) adds a line break to the script.  Match Regular Expression specifies a regular expression the response from the remote host should match.  Match Exact specifies the exact response the response from the remote host should return. Partial matches of the text in this field will cause the monitor to fail.  End of Script specifies the end of the script and is required for all monitor types. You do not need to enter any text in this field, and any additional actions beyond this select are ignored.

   
   

5. In the Actions field, select an action to set one or multiple rules for the monitor. 
6. Click more if you need to add additional fields to your monitor script.
7. Click Save or Save & New.
