Steps
Navigate to the Services tab of a client whom you would like to add a service to and click the Add Service link on the upper-left side of the page.
In the resulting popup, you will see a number of fields designed to help you add a service to the client in question. There are seven steps to adding a new service, but clicking the 'Save' button at the bottom of the window at any time will create the new service with specified detailsOnce a customer orders a product from your company, you will need to create a service item in their account in order to bill them. Ubersmith guides you through adding a service using a wizard. The number of steps in the wizard depends on the type of service you are adding.

- From the Ubersmith Dashboard, click either Clients or Go to Client Manager.

Description
Enter a description for the service in question. This will be the main identifier for the service that you are creating and is what will appear in invoices sent to the client when it is billed.
Service Plan
Use the dropdown menu to select the service plan that you would like the new service to represent.
Quantity
Enter the number of this type service requested by your client in this field.
Billing Period
Select the renewal period for which you plan to bill the client in this drop-down menu. The default billing periods are one-time, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annually.
Discount
If you would like to give a discount to your client, you can enter it as a percent or monetary sum in this box.
Billing Calculated
This section allows you choose whether if billing will be calculated on a monthly or periodic basis. While the monthly setting will (predictably)
From the Client Manager Dashboard, click View All Clients.

- In the Description field, enter a description for the service that will appear on the invoice.
- In the Service Plan field, select the related service plan.
- In the Quantity field, enter the number of this type of service being billed.
In the Billing Period field, select the renewal period for the service.
In the Discount field, enter the amount of the discount as a percent or monetary sum, then select either % or $ to signify the type of discount.
In the Billing Calculated field, select either By Month or By Period. The monthly setting will bill on a month-to-month basis, the periodic setting

Click the 'Next' button once you are satisfied with the changes you've made. The next section concentrates on the billing information of the service.

Start Date
Enter the date which you would like to being billing the service on.
End Date
Enter the date which you would like to stop billing the service on (this field can be left blank if you do not intend to stop billing).
Post Renew
This option is used to bill the service in arrears. In almost every case this setting should only be enabled by service modules.
Auto Charge
This setting determines whether if your client will be automatically billed for this service.
Automatic Payment Method
This dropdown menu allows you to select the method by which you will draw payment from your clients (i.e. Credit Card, Paypal, ect.)
Auto-Suspend / Auto-Cancel
These options allow you to suspend and/or cancel a service if payment is a set amount of days overdue.
Click the 'Next' button, once you are satisfied with your configuration.

User ID
This field is used for control panel integration. Enter the ID that corresponds with the control panel setup (if applicable).
Password
This field is used for control panel integration. Enter the password that corresponds with the control panel setup (if applicable).
Server Name
This field is normally filled with the client's hostname that corresponds with the control panel setup (if applicable).
IP Address
Enter the IP address of the client's machine in here, if they are to have a dedicated IP address on the control panel host.
Control Panel Integration
Check this box if this service needs to be configured on a control panel host.

Once you are finished configuring this section, click the 'Next' button.
Image RemovedYou will be brought to another section entitled 'Service Notes.' This section allows you to enter in any important information regarding your client and/or the service in question.

Click the 'Next' button once you are finished filling out custom field data. The last section, entitled 'Comment' simply allows you to add any applicable comments to the service.
- In the Contract Term field, select an available contract term.
- In the Assigned Location field, select the appropriate location.
- In the Rate Plan field, select an available rate plan.
- In the Item field, three separate pieces of information are needed:
- Price/Billing Period – enter the cost of the service per period selected in the Billing Period field.
- Setup Fee - enter the fee for setting up this service.
- Client Access – select either Visible to client, Hidden from client, Hidden when $0.00.
- Click Next.
Tax Assignments
- In the Tax Engine field, select Internal Tax Engine if you are manually adding tax rates through the Ubersmith Clients Settings page, or select SureTax if you are using SureTax as a third-party tax engine to automatically calculate your taxes.
- Click Next.
- If you selected SureTax, complete the additional fields that become enabled.

The Situs Rule and Transaction Type Code fields are defined by SureTax. They are set to the default values on the service plan and can be changed as needed on the actual service. The situs rule, transaction code and zip code are sent to SureTax before an invoice is generated. SureTax then returns the individual tax rates and amounts that need to be billed, which is then included in the invoice. These fields tell SureTax what service is actually being billed. Ubersmith uses the recorded zip code to determine the location to tax for. If there is no zip code set on the service, it looks to see if a device or location is set on the service, if no zip code is found after that, the client’s zip code specified in their primary contact details is used.

- If you selected Internal Tax Engine, select an appropriate applicable tax rate tax for the Service and/or Setup Fee.

Billing Info
- In the Planned Activation Date field, enter the estimated date the service is expected to begin.
- In the Activation Date field, enter the actual date the service is scheduled to begin.
- In the Client Acceptance Date field, enter the date your customer’s contract agreement was completed.
- In the Billing Start Date field, enter the date to begin billing for the service. The field defaults to the current date.
- In the Expected Cancellation Date field, enter the estimated date the service is expected to end.
- In the End Date field, enter the actual date the service ended.
- In the Bill in Advance field, select either Yes or No if you want to bill in advance.
- In the Auto Charge field, select either yes or no if you want to automatically process payments through an on-file payment method.
- In the Automatic Payment Method field, select the method of payment for the auto charge.
- In the Auto-Suspend field, select the field and enter the number of days to automatically suspend the service if payment is overdue.
- In the Auto-Cancel field, select the field and enter the number of days to automatically cancel the service if payment is overdue.
- In the Post Renew field, select either Yes or No to bill the service in arrears.
- Click Next.

Usage Plan Rate
This step appears if you are using a service to calculate usage data.
- In the Name field, confirm the appropriate usage plan is listed. If not, type or select the appropriate entry.
- Click Save.
