Associating Devices with Switch Ports To monitor a device's bandwidth usage, you will need to want to associate the device to a switch port. This article assumes that you have already configured a switch to be monitored using the 'Switch Information' device module.First, within Settings, you will need to have the 'Bandwidth Monitoring' module configured for the device type or device type group you'd like to monitor. Go to the 'Device Types' section in Settings to configure the module. When view the device's page within the Device Manager, you will see that there is now a section called 'Bandwidth Monitoring'. If you do not see this section, ensure that the device's 'type' is correct, and that you have configured the module properly.Click the 'edit' link in the 'Bandwidth Monitoring' section of your device. You will be presented with a popup that will allow to (initially) select up to three switches and switch ports to associate with the device. If you do not see any switches listed, ensure that you have configured at least one. If you still do not see a switch, log out and log back in to the system, as this data is cached.Below the list of available switches and ports there will be two radio buttons. The first 'billable' allows the user to specify whether the traffic going over this port should be included in any bandwidth overage billing. The second, 'Prohibit Automated Management' allows the user to specify whether the port should or should not be turned down for non-payment when the 'switch management' service module is used on the associated service. Once you have selected the appropriate switches and ports, save your changes. You should see a bandwidth graph show up in the 'Bandwidth Monitoring' table of your device.
